Meet the 2021 Board of Directors: Molly Johnson, CMP

Molly Johnson, CMP is the Director of Convention Sales at the Wilmington & Beaches CVB in Wilmington, North Carolina. Along with many others in this ever-changing environment, Molly’s role at the CVB is constantly evolving. Molly is currently the president-elect for our chapter, and will serve as president in 2022.

Molly has been in the meetings industry for 30 years, working in hotels before joining the CVB 6 years ago. Molly is a past president of MPI Carolinas Chapter and a Past President for the Wilmington Hospitality Association. Molly serves on global committees for MPI and is an Ambassador for Meetings Mean Business. In the local community, Molly has served the last eight years on the board of directors for A Safe Place which is a non-profit organization working with survivors of human trafficking.

Like many of us, Molly enjoys meeting new people and traveling to other destinations. Her favorite memory of our PCMA Southeast chapter is the gathering we have each year during Convening Leaders. When asked what is some of the best advice she’s received, Molly says: “If something about your job annoys you but you can’t change it (like end of month reports) you’ve got to reframe the way you think about it instead of it being something that drives you nuts.” That makes total sense! It’s all about perspective.
