Chapter News

From our President

In our May 24th newsletter, I included several compelling reasons to join us in Orlando July 20th – 21st for a 2-day education and networking event.  Some of you may be struggling with the “elephant in the room” – why host an event in Florida when many are calling for boycotts?

The PCMA SE Board chose Central Florida as the destination for our 2-day education & networking event for this very reason – economic research shows that boycotting a destination is most directly financially harmful to the hospitality and live events workers in the destination, the very people our organization strives to support through education, scholarships, mentoring and fostering business-peer-relationships.

Our decision to host in Florida is our statement to continue to support live events professionals and the suppliers that support them in our membership region.  A focus of our programming and discussions will be around Social Offset – I urge you to explore this nonprofit organization and other options offering the opportunity to remain true to your values when travelling to host and/or attend events.

Through an ongoing sponsorship by Cobb Travel & Tourism, planners may apply for a limited number of complimentary registrations by contacting Chris Colbert.

We sincerely hope you, too, choose to bring your voice and perspective to the table with us in July.

All my best,

Raven PalmerFrom our President
