Participation is the Name of the Game — A Letter From the President

I have been a member of PCMA and the PCMA SE Chapter for over ten years.  When I joined I had more than twenty years of experience in the hospitality industry and hours of in-house training with the companies that had employed me, but I still can express to you without hesitation that the day I attended my first meeting of the PCMA SE Chapter it began to change my professional life and my vision of where I could position myself in the industry.  With PCMA I knew that I had found a professional organization in which I could commit to and serve in a productive fashion.  Our mission, to be the leading organization for meeting and event professionals by delivering superior and innovative education and promote the value of professional convention management, resonated with where I wanted to focus my energy. From the very beginning, it was clear to me that not only was this a group of people I could relate to, but I would learn new things and keep up on industry trends by continuing to attend the meetings.

In addition to attending meetings, I immediately joined a committee and began to become more deeply involved with the chapter.  It was through participation on committees and eventually joining the leadership of the chapter where I received the greatest benefits.  My membership has exposed me to new opportunities and people who will assist in shaping my future personal and professional success. It also allowed me to network with like-minded people from other organizations that face similar challenges and who have been able to provide insights into solutions through examples that have worked for them. And last, but certainly not least, lifelong friendships have been forged in the process. These benefits are available to all members who stay actively engaged in the PCMA SE Chapter.

Whether you are long-term, active member or a new member just learning to explore and navigate through the various professional organizations available to meeting professionals,  my wish for you is to have the same or similar experience as I have had when you decide to join our organization.  You will be welcomed with open arms, and you have our assurances that we will provide you with every opportunity possible to fully participate in the future growth and development of the chapter and learn more about the meeting planning industry from some of the best professionals in the business.

On behalf of the PCMA SE Chapter Board of Directors we welcome your participation and support in 2017 and beyond!

As a current member, each new member you recruit for the Member-Get-A-Member Campaign will grant you one entry into a quarterly drawing and one entry into the grand prize drawing for free registration, travel and hotel to PCMA’s Convening Leaders. As you recruit more members, your opportunity to win increases.

Please keep talking about PCMA –
We Appreciate Your Efforts!
