2019 Volunteer of the Quarter: Q4

by: Edward Vargo, Director of Volunteers

Congratulations to the PCMA Southeast Chapter 2019 Volunteer of the Quarter (Q4): Sheryl Ehlers, Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center

Thank you Visit Music City and the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation for sponsoring the PCMA Southeast Chapter Volunteer of the Quarter and the Year program. Sheryl Ehlers with the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center was the recipient of our Volunteer of the Quarter award for the fourth quarter 2019.

Sheryl currently serves on our Community Service committee. We asked Sheryl about her volunteer experience, and here is what she had to say:

Why do you volunteer with PCMA?
I find that doing volunteer work through PCMA is not only self-rewarding but also gives me an opportunity to meet and connect with new possible business contacts.  The ability to learn new things while connecting with other members helps create a connection and build a stronger business relationship.  In turn this allows a fellow member to learn more about me and hopefully realize why I would be a good partner to them if they had business relevant to my property. I have had the privilege of serving on the PCMA SE Community Service committee for the past three years and have made several contacts through my volunteer work that I now consider friends as a result.

What inspires you most about volunteering?
It’s deeply satisfying on a personal level to be able to help others and see what we can achieve as an organization to help our community.

What would you tell other PCMA members to get them involved?
I would tell other PCMA members that being involved in a committee or volunteering within PCMA offers you more than just an opportunity to achieve career objectives but an opportunity to make new friends while helping your community.
